C4C: The Workshop

The Workshop is a pilot space for the Center for Creativity, and is an outcome of Pitt's Year of the Humanities in the University.

Located downstairs in the University Store on Fifth, The Workshop is a place where members of the Pitt community can go to make things, to think through questions or problems by engaging hands and minds in making things, or to try new things without fear of ‘failure’ because the emphasis is on the process of creating rather than on product.

The heart of The Workshop is an open maker space. With a Pitt ID, members of the University community are invited to exercise their creative spirit and muscles.

The Workshop provides walls for writing, diagramming, or chalking; space for challenging conversations or quiet writing; clay; paint; musical instruments; fabric and yarn; and more.

As you make things here, expect people to come up to you and ask you how you do what you do. And as you see others make things, please feel free to ask them to show you how they do what they do. This is a community space and a place to make unexpected connections that can lead you to new discoveries or ways of seeing.
