Writing GenQ

Fridays, Mar. 1 to Apr. 19
1-2:30 p.m. via Zoom

As members of the LGBTQIA+ community, what can we learn about ourselves and our stories through dialogue with those younger or older than we are?

As part of the Year of Discourse & Dialogue, the Center for Creativity is offering a unique opportunity for LGBTQIA+ students to take part in a program centering queer experience through creative writing and intergenerational dialogue.

Writing GenQ seeks to bring together college students (undergraduate and graduate under the age of 25) and LGBTQIA+ elders (age 50+) through creative writing. Over the course of six 90-minute sessions, participants will read, discuss, and write their own poems and short nonfiction with a focus on intergenerational learning and communication.

Participants will help determine the topics we explore, and no previous writing experience is required. Sessions will be held on evenings via Zoom and capped off by an in-person reading and reception in April.

The program will be facilitated by poet and nonfiction writer Erik Schuckers.
